The history of the Intramural Championship t-shirt.

The coveted intramural champion shirt is one of the most sought-after articles of clothing at The University of Texas at Austin. Each year thousands of participants compete in over 30 different events for the honor of claiming bragging rights and their piece of UT history.

Along with their photo on the Intramural Wall of Fame, students understand the long tradition of wearing their champ shirt on campus to let all know that they too have joined the ranks of intramural champions.

The Recreational Sports Intramural Sports program has undergone many changes in the past 105 years. From new sports being added to new divisions being created, the program has gotten bigger, better, more diverse, and looks very different than it did in 1916.

Originally a campus tradition established in 1922 for recognizing student leaders and a symbolic gesture of transferring leadership from one class to the next, the Swing Out Awards are presented annually by the Office of the Dean of Students to recognize student organizations that have demonstrated excellence in leadership on campus.
