What is the Outdoor Center?
The Outdoor Center is a resource for you to rent high quality gear for your personal adventure trips. Whether you need to rent gear for your trip or already have everything you need, our staff is here to help guide you and answer any questions you may have as you plan your trip. The Outdoor Center is also where you will meet up for pre-trip meetings if you decide to join us on one of our adventure trips!
You can find hours and rental policies on our website.
Where is the Outdoor Center?
We are located inside of Gregory Gym. To find us, enter the gym and head towards the first hallway on the left after the check in counter. Follow the hallway past the weight rooms to the end of the hall, and the Outdoor Center is on the right!
What can I rent?
We have almost everything you need to spend a few nights under the stars, organize a game of Spikeball at Zilker Park and more. Some of our most popular rental gear includes tents, sleeping bags and pads, stoves, backpacks, hammocks, crash pads, climbing shoes and sports equipment. You can find a full list of gear and rental prices here.
How do I rent gear?
You may, but are not required to, reserve gear for your trip up to 10 days in advance. All reservations must be made in person at the Outdoor Center. To complete your rental reservation, you must pay the full rental price.
On the day of pickup, visit the Outdoor Center and let the staff know that you need to pick up an order. They will take it from there!
When you pick up your gear, please review your order and make sure you have all of the gear you rented and that it is in good condition. Be sure to make note of the return date and return all of the gear on time and in good condition in order to avoid any late or damage fees. If for some reason you are going to be unable to return the gear by the due date, give us a call to let us know of your circumstances.
How does the Outdoor Center connect me to life on campus?
The Outdoor Center serves as a central hub for connecting you to the outdoor community on campus. In addition to being the place from where Adventure Trips are run, it also serves as a meeting place for Stream Team, an organization centered around conducting scientific research along Texas waterways.
While at the Outdoor Center, you can meet like-minded students who are passionate about exploring and protecting the outdoors. Come check it out for yourself and to see what resources we can offer you for planning your own trip. Even if you don’t need rental gear, our staff is excited to hear about your trip and answer any questions you might have!
