Outdoor Cooking: DIY Energy Balls Recipe

Planning your next adventure? Don’t forget to pack the perfect snack that will help replenish your body and keep you going during activities at home or long days on a backcountry trip. Keep reading for an energy-packed recipe filled with protein, carbs, good fats and fiber.

It’s a great idea to carry a small healthy snack to nourish your body with a consistent source of energy throughout the day while on a trip, like backpacking, where you will be burning a lot of calories. Having the right source of sustenance and ensuring that you are getting the nutrients your body needs can enrich your trip experience. Feel free to get creative and customize the ingredients to your liking!

Ingredients Needed

  • 8 Pitted Dates
  • 1 cup Mixed Nuts (Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, etc.)
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 1 Pinch of Sea Salt
  • ¼ Cup Tahini
  • 2 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Pea Protein Powder
  • 2 tbsp Hemp Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1 dash of Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Vanilla

Cooking Instructions

Ready to start cooking? All it takes is 4 simple steps!

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a food processor.
  2. Pulse until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency.
  3. Remove the food processor blade.
  4. Shape into balls and store in an airtight container.
