As this unprecedented year comes to an end, we’d like to thank you, our participants and members, for your continued support and patience as we embarked on a new journey together and transitioned to new styles, formats and approaches to recreation. Without you none of this would have been possible. Read along as we reflect on this year and be reminded of your resilience over the course of 2020.

January 2020
You started the new year off strong by being adventurous and diving into something new during one of our favorite RecSports traditions, Try Before You Buy!

You kept the momentum going by channeling your inner champion and registering for one of our many intramural sports and/or events.

February 2020
Mind+Body became your new focus as you joined us for the opening of our Mind+Body Studio and took some time to unwind in yoga classes and pilates reformer demos.

Adventure called and you answered! Lost Maples Natural Area was just one of the many destinations you embarked on with our Adventure Trip program.

Ladies, you showed up and reached new heights! Ladies Climbing Hour was a hit and created a space for awesome women to do awesome things!

March 2020
In March of 2020, the world as we knew it changed. While we imagined the closure of our facilities would be short term, we were quickly faced with the reality that our time away from the Forty Acres and each of our members and participants would be longer than expected.

You remained patient and understanding and showed us a lot of grace as we figured out how these changes impacted your RecSports experience.

We were so eager to get back to interacting and connecting with you and you helped us determine what kind of content you wanted to see from RecSports!

You let us know that movement and workouts that could be done from home were important to you. As a result, you helped us create and offer a reimagined TeXercise experience that introduced a catalog of workout videos featuring TeXercise instructors and trainers.

April 2020
You created a new fitness and movement routine with us through weekly virtual workouts.

You inspired us to create a hub for resources that offered even more ways for you to keep the movement going no matter where you happened to be!

You took a well-deserved break with us during our very first virtual R.E.C.E.S.S.

May 2020
Finals were no match for your resiliency. You preserved, took a study break with us and Healthy Horns, and made it through the final stretch!

Resiliency is truly an understatement when describing the Class of 2020. There was no shortage of impressive achievements and inspiring stories among our own Spring 2020 RecSports Graduates.

June 2020
#UT24, you embarked on your college journey in a way that has never seen before, starting with your virtual freshman orientation. You embraced it and you didn’t shy away from getting hooked on RecSports.

July 2020
You didn’t let being away from the Climbing Wall stop you from improving your climbing fitness!

August 2020
You stuck with us and remained patient as we worked hard to gradually reopen our facilities and safely welcome you back.

Longhorn Welcome looked a little different this year, but you didn’t let that stop you from finding ways to stay active and get involved during our week-long welcome event.

We welcomed you back to RecSports, but not without showing you all of the steps and precautions our team took to ensure your safety. You also continued to do your part to Protect Texas Together.

Life on the Forty Acres may have taken on a new look on the first day of the fall semester, but you still conquered your first day back. 🤘

September 2020
Intramural Sports just wasn’t the same without YOU! You helped us bring back in-person singles and doubles events, weekend tournaments, Esports, and more.

You completely rocked your first week back TeXercising with us both in-person and virtually by participating in our newest format of fitness classes, TeXercise On-Demand.💪

Our Sport Clubs continued to navigate a season like no other. While tournaments and play may not have been possible, club members continued to tap into their creativity to safely continue pursuing the sport they love.

October 2020
You answered adventure’s call and spent the day on Lady Bird Lake learning how to paddleboard with our Adventure Trip program.

November 2020
You made it to the final stretch of an unparalleled semester and made some time to recharge, refresh, and get moving with us.💪

December 2020
You showed us your skills during our Pop-Up Intramural Pickleball and Cornhole tournaments. Even President Hartzell got out to the courts.

Despite the challenges of 2020, our Fall 2020 RecSports Graduates persevered and made it to graduation!

In 2020 you adjusted, overcame challenges, and created new routines. Your commitment, dedication and hard work inspired us and, without you, RecSports would not be the same. We are looking forward to the start of a new year and wish each of you a very happy holiday break!
